New York and Ohio. Most recently, in 2006, was the show of my “Characters of Port Townsend” with 47 portraits of local folk.
POSITIONS AND TEACHING:
I have served on various boards of directors for museums and art associations and have taught art as a docent for 3rd graders, to adult artists and to college students at Olympia College, Bremerton, WA.
My special area of interest as lecturer is Italian art of the 13th to the 16th
Centuries.
ARTISTS STATEMENT
Art and history are intertwined. Art defines history and history is the place from which art evolves. I am fascinated how art can be used to interpret and reinterpret these currents of human history. And it is the human form that commands my attention in that context.
Nature does not remain in stasis. Like all things, we change. My work changes as drawing changes, my use of color changes and as new faces appear for me to contemplate. One area that appeals especially is to revisit old Biblical stories and ancient myths. Flying babies, gods and goddesses and angels with helmets are just a beginning of all the opportunities.
