With a basic 35mm camera and black and white film, I strive to capture some of the beauty I am lucky enough to witness. My hope is for the images to reflect the essence of the subject, and reinforce a feeling of good fortune for the gifts and beauty of life and nature and sunlight. I believe that at the source of creation is a wish for well being, and I think that is what I have been wanting to document, whether in the portrait of a stranger, a friend, a child, a rose, a tree. By subtracting the color, and as much distracting visual information as possible, I hope to highlight the deeper, underlying layers of the scene.
